Sri. VR Chidambaram, DGM (Retd) Passed Away on 17.09.2016

Mr VR Chidambaram, former Deputy General Manager, Indian Bank, passed away at the age of 82 years due to age related illness at Coimbatore on 17/09/2016.

Mr VR Chidambaram was fondly known as VR CT, in the Official and friends circle.  Born on 17th April 1934, he did his M A and joined the Bank as Officer on 31/03/1958. He had an illustrious career in the Bank and served as Branch Manager of Tiruppur and Salem Main. He went on to become the CEO of the Sri Lankan operations of the Bank. During his tenure, the Foreign Currency Banking Unit of the Branch commenced operation. On his return from Sri Lanka, he headed the Coimbatore Zone as the Zonal Manager. Later he served as AGM, SIFD, Principal, Staff College and Zonal Manager, Chennai Zone. Prior to his retirement, he served as DGM in Head Office. He retired on 30/04/1994.

He is survived by a son, daughter-in-law, 2 daughters and sons-in-law and grand children.

He was a thorough gentleman known for his innovative ideas, quick wit and humane approach.  He was an avid reader and a good orator. Even at his ripe age, he kept himself abreast of the current affairs, and he was circulating his critique  to his friends by mail . Such communication was also interspersed with jokes.

Many members of the FIBRE have had the opportunity to work with him and reminisce the good time they had with him in their condolence messages.

The members of FIBRE are shocked to hear his demise and convey their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray for his soul to rest in peace.
